Paula Carter is the author of the flash memoir collection No Relation (Black Lawrence Press, 2017). Her essays have appeared in The New York Times, Kenyon Review, The Southern Review, Prairie Schooner, Creative Nonfiction, Fourth Genre and elsewhere. Based in Chicago, she is a part of the live lit community and is a company member with the storytelling group 2nd Story. She was an Administrative Staff Fellow at the Bread Loaf Environmental Conference in 2022 and 2023 and is on the planning committee for the Washington Island Literary Festival. She holds an M.F.A. from Indiana University, Bloomington and teaches creative nonfiction at Northwestern University.
